Men’s Sheds are a vital community investment delivering programmes and activities that foster community spirit, connect communities
and contribute to building a more inclusive Australia. Most ‘shedders’ see themselves as having a strong sense of belonging and ownership
of their Shed, share fellowship, camaraderie and devote most of their time to worthwhile community projects. Men’s Sheds not only play
important roles in the overall improvement of health and wellbeing but also positively engaging within their community for the benefit of
their community.

Firewood Storage Unit:- A member of the local community needed somewhere to store firewood for
those cold winter nights. This smart looking unit was the result of Shed members labours. A good job, and very much appreciated by
the customer.

Possum Box - ongoing:- Possums, love them or hate them, they are a very common
sight in Australia. There is in fact, 23 different species of possum in Australia but the ones most likely to invade
your roof space is either the Common Brushtail Possum or the Common Ringtail Possum. The last place you want them is in
your roof. The Shed has made its first possum box, and it turned out rather well. If you need a box for them to live in,
go to our 'For Sale' page.

Threaded Brass Rods:- The Shed has threaded about a half a dozen thick brass rods. The rods were
for a yacht, somewhere down south. They were to attach the keel to the hull, apparently. Well done Vic..

Myna Bird Trap - ongoing:- The common myna (also called Indian myna) is an
introduced bird species that is now well established in many cities and towns in Eastern Australia. There is
concern that common mynas have a negative impact on native birds through competition for food, nesting sites
and territories and because of this concern, community groups and local councils conduct myna trapping and
killing programs.
Common mynas pose a human health risk as they carry bird mites such as Ornithonyssus bursa and Dermanyssus
gallinae that may infect humans. They can also cause dermatitis, asthma, severe irritation and rashes. Their
droppings can spread Psittacosis, Ornithosis, Salmonellosis and arboviruses. They may also carry owl flies,
biting lice, Oxyspirrura thread worm and round worm. Mynas are known to carry avian malaria.
They are an extremely invasive species and these traps have proven effective in capturing them. Captured
birds should be euthanased and disposed of.
