Most ‘shedders’ see themselves as having a strong sense of belonging and ownership of their Shed, share fellowship, camaraderie
and devote most of their time to worthwhile community projects. It is not surprising that strong bonds can be forged, and when
they are no longer with us, their absence is felt rather keenly. This page hopes to convey a little of the life of members who have
passed on, and to keep their memory alive.

Ivan Leslie Matthews:- If one word was needed to describe Ivan, that word would be 'Servant'. He was always ready and willing to help others
whenever he was called upon to do so. We found that out when he joined the Mens Shed. Ivan was born in Warwick, in Southern Queensland where he attend school. His father owned
a trucking company, transporting goods between Warwick and Brisbane. He played representative Hockey and loved gardening. One of his first jobs was as a Telegram boy with
the Post Office. He later became a linguist, working for several years in Alice Springs. His goal was to go to Bible College and eventually graduated with a Bachelor of
Divinity. He earned the nickname of 'pastor Ivan' from some of his friends. Ivan moved to the Toowoomba region in 2016 and finally found himself in Crows Nest. He joined the Mens Shed
in 2022 and became an invaluable member, taking on the role of Treasurer. Ivan will be sorely missed, having made some firm friends at the Shed.
